Overview
- Tier One Technologies is looking for a Data Scientist to support our US Government client.
- This hybrid contract-to-hire position will be located in Arlington, VA.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop visualization solutions using a variety of methods to support investigative and audit products.
- Design experiments, tests hypotheses, and build scalable models using data science and artificial intelligence (e.g. machine learning) methods.
- Design, develop, and adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other analytical solutions for audit, investigation, research, and support functions.
- Lead artificial intelligence activities such as natural language processing, predictive analytics, and machine learning model development, training, evaluation, testing, refinement, deployment, and maintenance.
- Translate complex technical findings into an easily understood narrative. Prepares comprehensive documentation for requirements, test plans, user manuals, technical diagrams, and training materials.
- Develop project communications and maintain effective working relationships between project teams, stakeholders, and management.
- Provide advice on issues affecting projects, such as data access, quality, storage, and other related needs.
- Contribute to and presents training and conference materials to large audiences.
- Independently perform comprehensive and efficient data collection and analysis of a variety of data sources to develop trends, descriptive statistics, or other insights.
- Independently research, extract, evaluate, interpret, and visualize data and information as actionable intelligence for auditors and investigators to detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Use relational databases, data lakes, data lakehouses, and other data environments to create a variety of analytic products such as business intelligence tools, summary tables, comparison graphs, or temporal, association, and link analysis charts.
- Interact with other agencies and build relationships with peers to share information and learn the latest developments in analytical tools and techniques to effectively support the OIG with mission related work.
- Develop substantial knowledge of database applications and environments and share expertise with coworkers in support of agency goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field.
- 5+ years of coding experience utilizing SQL, Python, R, and Java Scripts.
- 3+ years of experience working with projects involving Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Robotics Process Automation, Artificial Intelligence, text and/or data mining, as well as statistical and mathematical methods.
- 6+ months of experience working with AWS or Azure services such as Databricks, Data Factory, and Data Lake.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub to support continuous integration and delivery pipelines and operate within Agile frameworks to iteratively deliver high‑quality data products, machine learning models, and artificial intelligence solutions.
- Proven ability to create solutions in complex environments, including the use of programming languages to create datasets, visualizations, and interactive reports in various business intelligence applications.
- Proficiency applying analytical techniques, methods, and processes to business problems demonstrated through a history of accepted modeling and analyses that resulted in meaningful business impact. These include working with unstructured or structured data and converting those data sets using a variety of analyses such as optimization, simulation, classical and spatial statistics, and/or programming languages.
- Strong writing and documentation skills to capture collection of source data, methodology from business rules, and visualization deployment from a myriad of sources and interactions with various stakeholders.
- Strong relational database and querying languages experience.
- Professional certification(s) in a related field of Data Science and/or Data Analytics disciplines preferred.
- Effectively work in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
- Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
- Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last 5 years. Military Service excluded.
