Overview

  • Tier One Technologies is looking for a Data Scientist to support our US Government client.
  • This hybrid contract-to-hire position will be located in Arlington, VA.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and develop visualization solutions using a variety of methods to support investigative and audit products.
  • Design experiments, test hypotheses, and develop scalable models using data science and artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning, methodologies.
  • Design, develop, and adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other analytical solutions to support audit, investigation, research, and related functions.
  • Analyze data to support Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL) strategies, pattern recognition, and the effective application of analytical tools.
  • Review, analyze, and modify existing products, including coding, debugging, testing, and documentation.
  • Develop, manage, and optimize automated data pipelines to ensure data integrity, support reliable analytics workflows, and facilitate effective collaboration across teams.
  • Integrate disparate and diverse data sources, including flat files, relational databases, and external systems, using techniques such as JDBC/ODBC connections, REST APIs, and web scraping to support robust analytics and data-driven decision-making.
  • Provide guidance to coworkers on business and technical issues affecting projects, including data access, data quality, storage capacity, and analytical tools and software.
  • Assist with training and conference development, including presentations to large audiences.
  • Facilitate communication between business owners and end users who need to work with database administrators and traditional IT support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality and security guidelines.
  • Coordinate with staff and customers to identify and document business and technical requirements.
  • Produce written documentation and technical artifacts for all completed work, including translating user requirements into technical designs.
  • Assist the agency in developing programming and data visualization solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support for existing projects and application efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of coding experience utilizing SQL, Python, R, and Java Scripts.
  • 3+ years of experience working with projects involving Machine Learning, Natural Language processing, Robotics Process Automation, Artificial Intelligence, text and/or Data Mining, as well as statistical and mathematical methods.
  • Prior experience working with AWS or Azure services such as Databricks, Data Factory, and Data Lake.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub to support continuous integration and delivery pipelines and operate within Agile frameworks to iteratively deliver high‑quality data products, machine learning models, and artificial intelligence solutions.
  • Proven ability to create solutions in complex environments, including the use of programming languages to create datasets, visualizations, and interactive reports in various business intelligence applications.
  • Proficiency applying analytical techniques, methods, and processes to business problems demonstrated through a history of accepted modeling and analyses that resulted in meaningful business impact. These include working with unstructured or structured data and converting those data sets using a variety of analyses such as optimization, simulation, classical and spatial statistics, and/or programming languages.
  • Strong writing and documentation skills to capture collection of source data, methodology from business rules, and visualization deployment from a myriad of sources and interactions with various stakeholders.
  • Strong relational database and querying languages experience.
  • Professional certification(s) in a related field of Data Science and/or Data Analytics disciplines preferred.
  • Effectively work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  • Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last 5 years. Military Service excluded.
