Overview

  • Tier One Technologies has an immediate need for a Sr. Cloud Systems Engineer/Architect for our US Government client.
  • Provide support to the Vice President of Information Technology (IT) in designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise technology solutions by translating corporate business vision, strategic goals, and stakeholder requirements into actionable objectives for building, enhancing, or replacing business and IT system capabilities. Develop and implement a comprehensive IT roadmap while ensuring organizational agility, adaptability, and resilience to change remain key architectural and strategic objectives across the enterprise.
  • Must have an active Google Cloud Associate or Professional certification.
  • This hybrid contract-to-hire position will be available to start in Raleigh, NC or Eagan, MN.
  • SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise infrastructure and platforms required for cloud computing.
  • Analyze system requirements and ensure that systems will be securely integrated with current applications.
  • Advise and assist IT functional groups to define and implement solutions aligned with Cloud based Microservices / Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for infrastructure or business applications.
  • Create architecture deliverables describing cloud solutions in sufficient detail to develop bills of materials, technology components, vendor components, cost estimations, and design parameters suitable for handoff to implementation teams.
  • Prepare solution descriptions, assumptions, technical approach, and content that explains why solution is recommended, risks and mitigation plans.
  • Lead cultural change for cloud adoption. Actively participate in the development and socialization of Infrastructure Solution roadmaps related to public cloud offerings.
  • Create and communicate cloud policies, procedures, standards, design patterns, and reference architectures that define repeatable solutions.
  • Identify training and development needs required to support cloud-based solutions standards; develop materials for training and awareness and deliver messages to intended audience.
  • Interface with vendors to ensure standard architectures are adhered to and implemented for projects within a specific technology area.
  • Provide technical direction to management and systems professionals engaged in the analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of business information systems.
  • Ensure alignment of infrastructure and application solution design to the overall architecture for Enterprise applications and compliance with defined technology standards, policies, processes and best industry practices.
  • Research and analyze the technology industry and market trends relating to cloud technologies to determine potential impact upon the IT enterprise; make recommendations to capitalize on trends and industry best practice.
  • Ensure the architecture governance structure is applied in a defined solutions area based on business and IT organization strategies.
  • Ensure publication and update of solution standards pertaining to cloud hosted solutions and manages individual projects related to the release and propagation of standards across IT.
  • Provide leadership and technical assistance as an IT SWAT team member to management and systems professionals engaged in problem solving regarding the analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of business information systems.

Qualifications

  • A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is required. If the degree is not in the applicable field, then 4 additional years of related experience is required.
  • 13+ years of experience in Information Technology.
  • Deep understanding of system development in cloud environments, including Software as Service (SaaS), Platform as Service (PaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Expert knowledge of Google cloud services and have an Active Google Cloud Associate or Professional certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and evaluate existing and proposed business systems and procedures, develop requirements and identify Google cloud centric system solutions in detailed measurable terms that achieve optimum performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of industry developments, business information systems and practices, development methods, procedures, standards, techniques, Agile application life cycle, test driven development, continuous integration of code development, and current cloud technologies, in particular Google cloud.
  • Experience leading the design, development and deployment of performant cloud business software, in particular Google cloud, at scale or current hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience.
  • Ability to integrate cloud services, in particular on Google cloud, with other SaaS or on-premise technologies from leading vendor products Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, Linux, SAP, etc.
  • Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements in a regulated environment such as SOX and PCI for cloud applications, in particular on Google cloud.
  • Ability to automate complex tasks, in particular on Google cloud, using scripting or coding skills, or similar current automation tools (e.g., shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, or Puppet).
  • Knowledge of information systems enterprise-wide architecture including knowledge of a wide range of foundational technology such as cloud services, servers and storage, virtualization, high availability, performance analysis and management, and enterprise infrastructure monitoring for highly available web-scale systems.
  • Ability to communicate, orally and in writing, sufficient to develop and present management briefings; provide written and/or verbal guidance on technical issues; and prepare/present recommendations and reports.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent US Resident (Green Card Holder).
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Be able to pass a drug screening, criminal history, and credit checks.
  • Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  • Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
