Overview
- Tier One Technologies is hiring a Network Engineer with experience in Email Gateway Administration to support the Network Connectivity Platform (NCP) Team. This team provides network technologies and infrastructure support for our direct U.S. Government client.
- This Contract-to-Hire position will be located in Raleigh, NC.
- The possibility of travelling up to 40% of the time.
- SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT
Responsibilities
- Email Gateway Configuration: Responsible for configuring and maintaining email systems, policies, and rules for email traffic filtering and monitoring.
- Security Management: Responsible for ensuring email security by managing email gateway security, identifying and mitigating email threats such as phishing attacks, spam, and malware.
- Capacity Planning and Optimization: Monitor email traffic and identify bottlenecks, plan and optimize the email gateway infrastructure for maximum efficiency and performance throughput.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to end-users and IT professionals, resolve issues related to email delivery, and troubleshoot email gateway system performance issues.
- Analytics and Monitoring: Perform regular monitoring, logging, and reporting to track metrics such as email traffic, performance, and email gateway availability to ensure that SLAs are met.
- Administer and troubleshoot the Client’s Email Gateway Platform.
- Manage Broadcom/Symantec Messaging Gateway.
- Configure, administer, document custom policies for Email administration.
- Provide a high-level troubleshooting of network and application issues.
- Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
Qualifications
- A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred. If the individual's degree is not in the applicable field, then 4 additional years of related experience is required.
- 8+ years of IT Network-related experience.
- Expertise in Email/SMTP server technologies and network security practices.
- Broadcom/Symantec Mail Gateway experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of email systems, including Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and other platforms.
- Proficiency in administering email servers, including configuring and managing user accounts, distribution lists, and email policies.
- Solid understanding of email protocols, such as SMTP, POP, and IMAP.
- Familiarity with email security best practices, including spam filtering, antivirus protection, and encryption.
- Experience in troubleshooting email issues, diagnosing and resolving problems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to integrate email systems with other applications and platforms.
- Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
- Ability to oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
- Broadcom SMG experience is PLUS.
- Network and Log Analytics is PLUS.
- Proficiency with application layer protocols – HTTP, SSH, SSL, etc. is PLUS.
- Must be available to travel up to 40% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance.
- Be able to pass a drug screening, criminal history, and credit checks.
- Must be a US Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
- Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
- Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
